CEDN: Tell our readers a little about your company. What's your main line of business?
KB: CMS Products essentially is a software utilities company that also supplies certain storage hardware for the convenience of our customers. We are focused on developing real solutions to real user problems in the area of recovering from catastrophic hard drive failure and also protecting sensitive data from unauthorized access.
CEDN: What would you say makes your company unique?
KB: Our BounceBack software line is the only one to offer a software solution that enables computer users to make an emergency start-up of their Windows PC from an external USB hard drive following a system hard drive crash. Think of it as creating a "Digital Spare Tire" for your PC on that external USB hard drive! Most people would not drive around without a spare tire in their car... so why take the same chance with something as important as a PC?
Should a user experience a hard drive crash or virus attack, recovery is instant with BounceBack's "Instant-UP!" feature. Once up and running from the USB hard drive, the user can elect to address the problem with the system hard drive. CEDN: Describe to our readers your current marketing strategy.
KB: BounceBack's "Instant-UP" feature was inspired by feedback from CMS's traditional business-class customers. When we analyzed the tremendous benefit this feature provided in terms of business continuity, we realized that the same set of circumstances holds true for typical consumers using their PCs everyday. So, this year's marketing strategy is to transcend what has been our business continuity feature to a lifestyle continuity feature by offering an easy-to-use version of this product to the typical Windows PC user.
CEDN: What do you anticipate to be your greatest challenge in the year ahead?
KB: I heard a saying one time that certainly caught my attention: "Unseen-Unsold!"
Our challenge at CMS Products is to make the typical PC user aware that BounceBack's Instant-Up feature exists and is affordable for even the most budget-conscious user. So communicating that is where you can help us.
CEDN: Are you introducing any new products?
KB: In the technology business, new products are the lifeline of your future. People are always working on a new and improved mousetrap, and we are no different. What we have tried to do is repurpose our two core software platforms to address new areas of opportunity with in the general marketplace. An example of this is our soon to be released version of BounceBack Small Business Server, which is focused on the very small business user [ 1-10 users]. To these users, the business continuity feature provided by BounceBack makes a world of difference in keeping a business up and running.
Our BounceBack Mobile product being released later this quarter will allow users to incorporate the BounceBack's Instant-Up feature using simple flash thumb drives as the storage medium. We think this is especially interesting when viewed in conjunction with the rapid market penetration of the NetBook class of computers now begin offered by almost all of the system manufacturers.
CEDN: What products do you see as being hottest this year?
KB: In my mind, BounceBack Mobile is going to set the world on fire - small, fast and sexy usually translates to big sales! Plus it solves a real problem!
CEDN: What distinguished your products from the competition?
KB: Currently, the BounceBack line of software is the only commercially available product that can actually eliminate computer downtime and data loss.
